Experiential Therapies

The Claudia Black Young Adult Center helps young adults overcome trauma through a series of experiential therapies that bring forth their inner struggles, so patients can move through their barriers. In addition to talking about their struggles, patients are encouraged to role play, act out, and visually see what’s going on internally.

We are proud of our reputation as experts in using breakthrough techniques to help patients find peace. We are also proud of our incorporation of ancient healing methods from around the world.

Innovative Treatment For Young Adults

Our experiential therapies include:

Acupuncture - This medicinal technique can ease pain to alleviate stress and promote wellness.

Equine Therapy - The Claudia Black Young Adult Center is one of the few treatment centers in Arizona that uses Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) to lead patients to healing and recovery.

Expressive Arts Therapy - Embedding art and self-expression into therapy has many important advantages for patients, as it gives patients the ability to share perceptions they can’t normally share in other therapy methods.

Mindfulness Meditation: The ancient practice of meditating involves being in the present moment with non-judgmental acceptance.

Tai Chi and Yoga: These practices help reduce stress and focus on healing the mind, body and spirit.

Effective Treatment That Works

The Claudia Black Young Adult Center in Wickenburg, Arizona, provides an intensive, experientially based 45-day treatment program for young adults ages 18 – 26 who are struggling with unresolved emotional trauma, addiction, have a dual diagnosis or who have failed past addiction treatments. Dr. Claudia Black - renowned author, speaker, and trainer who has been working with family systems and addictive disorders since the 1970s - is the clinical architect of the Claudia Black Young Adult Center.

In a safe and nurturing community composed of their peers, young adults are guided on their journey of recovery by examining the underlying causes of addiction and co-occurring disorders. The goal is for these individuals to gain the courage to face difficult issues, including grief and loss; heal from emotional trauma; and become accountable for their own feelings, behaviors, and recovery.
