The Claudia Black Young Adult Center provides intensive, experientially based inpatient treatment specifically tailored to young adults ages 18 to 26 using our proven Meadows Model. Those who come through our doors may be struggling with unresolved emotional trauma, drug or alcohol addiction, mental health conditions, or a dual diagnosis. Our team of treatment professionals is equipped to help them address those issues with healing that happens among their peers. But we’re not just treating conditions, we’re treating people, and we’re also here to help them discover who they’re meant to be.
Alcohol Addiction
When a substance is legal, widely consumed, and socially acceptable, it can be easy to dismiss someone’s drinking as a problem. But if you or someone you love is drinking to excess and can’t function without alcohol, that loss of control is too dangerous to overlook. Far from a harmless rite of passage, alcohol abuse is responsible for 88,000 deaths every year, according to the National Institute On Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. Alcohol misuse also causes health issues, damages relationships, and lowers inhibitions, leaving the user at greater risk of being victimized.
Drug Addiction
It may seem harmless in the beginning: borrowing a friend’s prescription to help you stay awake during finals week, popping a pill to “take the edge off” after a stressful day, looking to relieve some physical or emotional pain, or experimenting with friends during a night of partying. Most people who experiment with drugs don’t envision developing a full-blown addiction, but they forget just how incredibly addictive these substances are. Before you know it, life revolves around getting more.

Dr. Claudia Black
Internationally recognized for her pioneering work with family systems and addictive disorders, Dr. Claudia Black’s passion to help young adults overcome obstacles and strengthen families is the foundation of what we do here. Her work with children impacted by drug and alcohol addiction fueled the advancement of the codependency and developmental trauma fields, and today she is actively involved in this groundbreaking treatment program that bears her name.
