Brain Center

Neurofeedback and other science-based tools to enhance treatment

Retraining the Brain

Our unique Brain Center is a soothing space where young adults can learn to improve their self-regulation skills. Focused on wellness and healing, we employ state-of-the-art equipment that can be tailored to each individual’s current status. Our primary offering is neurofeedback, led by a trained technician. We also provide cranial electro-stimulation, heart rate variability, CES stimulation, and other scientific, evidence-based techniques that allow patients to relieve anxiety and calm the brain, so they are ready to begin the deeper work of treatment sooner.

Our Brain Center equipment:

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback, also called neurobiofeedback or neurotherapy, is a type of biofeedback that uses real-time displays of brain activity to allow patients to see what their brain is doing and how it responds to certain situations. This is important because low alpha brain waves are common among those with addiction or trauma and being able to see that there’s a physical reason behind their condition is eye-opening. Neurofeedback is then used to address brain dysregulation, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), addictive disorders, and emotional disturbances.

CES Stimulation

Those dealing with addiction or mental health issues often experience anxiety and trouble sleeping. Research over a 25-year period shows cranio-electro stimulation can improve cognitive functioning for this population. But how does it work? A very small modulated electrical current is applied to the earlobes, and the process is unobtrusive enough that patients can even engage in other activities during CES sessions.

Audio-Visual Stimulation with CES

This device merges audio-visual stimulation (AVS) with CES in one unit. These entrainment devices combine light and sound to help with stress reduction, insomnia, mood disorders, mental sharpness, memory, and cognitive functioning. Patients choose from preinstalled sessions for energizing, meditation, brain brightening, sleep, and mood boosting.

Heart-Rate Variability

This biofeedback device features engaging graphics and graphing capabilities to help patients learn to relax and develop coherent breathing patterns. HRV is helpful in reducing stress, gaining clarity, and developing greater self-awareness of internal reactions.

Chi Machine

If the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems fail to maintain a balanced function, problems such as insomnia, excessive dreaming, digestive problems, stomach pain, anxiety, constipation, palpitations, extensive aches and pains, and mental stress may surface. The Chi Machine’s figure-8 movement provides maximum oxygenation benefits at an oscillation speed that is beneficial to the heart and circulation, influencing the sympathetic nervous system so it can restore the vital balance needed to function at its best while increasing lymph flow.
