Once You’re On Campus

It’s natural to wonder what treatment will be like. Whether it’s through our workshops, integrative therapies or support groups, the Claudia Black Young Adult Center exists for the primary purpose of healing your trauma and providing you with tools to transform your life. Throughout the course of a day, you will attend a variety of lectures, workshops, therapies, and treatments in a combination of individual and group settings.

Patients have a structured weekly schedule with time blocked out for a variety of different activities throughout each day. That daily structure at CBC is the foundational element in creating an environment that focuses on healing and recovery. Standards such as designated time for disabling phones during the day allow patients to disengage from distraction and focus on discovering themselves and finding healing.

A Typical Day at CBC

Breakfast is followed by a community meeting and group therapy. During the week, patients participate in different group therapies and reflection practices before lunch. The afternoon is composed of self-regulation practices such as acupuncture and yoga, followed by fitness and recreation, topic-specific group sessions, individual therapy, and 12-Step study. Throughout the week, patients also have the opportunity to participate in different activities such as equine therapy, horseback riding, service work, and ropes courses, depending on their current phase of treatment.

In the evening, dinner is an opportunity to focus on good eating habits and wellness, offering patients a chance to talk to their peers. After dinner, additional group time is followed by nightly meditation and 12-Step programs.

One thing that impressed me – many of my counselors at The Meadows were recovering, just like me. I knew they knew exactly where I was coming from. Made all the difference in the world.
