Inpatient Housing for Men
A private and safe environment for young adult males
Accommodations for Male Residents
Complementing the common areas shared across the campus for both male and female residents, it’s essential to have gender-specific accommodations that create a supportive and healing environment. Men face so many roadblocks to seeking treatment; once they make it in the door, it is imperative that they feel welcomed, included, and safe. Both men and women need space to find the courage to be vulnerable and honest about their lives and their issues.
Addiction and Mental Health Issues for Men
According to National Institute on Drug Abuse:
- Men who are addicted to marijuana have higher rates of other substance use problems as well as antisocial personality disorders.
- Men are more likely than women to use almost all types of illicit drugs, and illicit drug use is more likely to result in emergency department visits or overdose deaths for men than for women.
- For most age groups, men have higher rates of use or dependence on illicit drugs and alcohol than do women.
Comfortable Living Space
Housing at The Claudia Black Young Adult Center includes gender-specific bedrooms shared with male roommates. Having a shared room is actually by design, as we find that the peer interaction has a positive effect in the overall treatment process. Centered between the men’s bedroom quarters is the private space for male residents to gather for group therapy, leisure activities, or to relax with other male residents during their stay.
Treatment Exclusively for Young Adults
The transition to adulthood can become derailed by a number of factors. Young adults often find themselves feeling “in-between.” They’ve moved past adolescence and are eager for independence, but underlying issues can leave them stuck. The Claudia Black Young Adult Center offers groundbreaking inpatient treatment for those between the ages of 18-26 who are struggling with emotional trauma, addiction, or mental health issues like depression, ADHD, or anxiety. Our program features gender-specific groups, experiential treatment methods, and peer support — all targeted specifically to the unique needs of this age group.
